Indoor and Outdoor Lighting

Over the last few weeks, we’ve looked a lot at our gardens and outdoor spaces in our Lockdown Living series. This week’s mini project is to add the finishing touches to our gardens and balconies with outdoor lighting. We’ll also take a quick peek at some of the fabulous indoor lighting currently in stock and ready to go. These are projects that you can do yourself or with the help of a socially-distanced electrician. Many are still working in private homes where no one in the household is vulnerable or isolating due to Covid 19 symptoms. And, of course, you must also follow the 2 metre rule.

Simple DIY Outdoor Lighting

As the sun goes down, there is nothing more inviting than the subtle glow of outdoor lighting. Light up a pathway, highlight a pergola or festoon a patio with string upon string of fairy lights. Wind strings of tiny lights or statement bulbs along the branches of a tree to create a magical light canopy. We may have grand plans for our outdoor lighting but we need to be realistic. By all means, keep the idea on the back burner but, for the time being, grand plans probably won’t be happening.

For now, the Juliettes team are taking a quick, DIY approach by using fabulous candle lanterns and simple, solar LED lighting. Now, more than ever, we need our outdoor spaces to be usable, but we have to work with what is available. In supermarkets, hardware stores and online, you can find anything from simple solar uplighters to vintage-style lamposts, glowing pebbles and a whole array of festoon lights. Experience has taught us that solar lighting tends not to be very long lasting, but this is a quick fix for a lockdown spring/summer – and it doesn’t need any electrical expertise.

Outdoor Lighting to Order for Later

Of course, there is nothing to stop us planning ahead. Here at Juliettes, we have a range of spectacular outdoor lighting in the form of opulent crystal chandeliers. Again, these are made to order. Many of our manufacturers are still hard at work, producing these fabulous, hand-crafted pieces, and we can’t thank them enough. They can all be ordered now for dispatch in summer. Understandably, lead times may be a little longer than usual – but it gives us all something to look forward to.
